California (Bay Area, Northern) Sacramento Beer and Gear

great shots, Steve! Really like the one of Mike -- the sculpture face looks like it's grimacing at being snapped! :D

A few pix from Sunday:

Yes, I think my ZI is lighter than my M4...

Kevin, finding Sacramentans quite photogenic...

Well counterpointed Kevin.
This seems to have turned into a photograph the photographer outing.

The film's are in the tank right now :)

Sacramentans? Sacramentonians? Sacramentonia?
I thought those were posters of the GOP Governor candidates.
Sorry I missed out. I was looking forward to a screw in Sacatomato.
Sigh. Next time.

Ken. It's "Sackamenna." Anyone who ever read Herb Caen knows that. :)

Nice images Kevin and Steve!

This was as close as I could get without getting the feets wet:
Floating heads

Still unclear on this fountain, but that's nothing new:

Gotta have one train shot when in Sacatomato (thanks for the reminder Ken!):

One more boring train image:
Train 2

I'll hopefully get to the other rolls tomorrow, and may they be less of a snooze-fest.

And to think that I had you pegged as an educated Bay Area native.

The Emperor wears no clothes!!! :D

Heh heh. Just trying to sound younger after my recent birthday. I was introduced to him once when I was young by a guy who was one of his 'sources'. I read his columns, but I didn't warm up to them until I read some of his classic older ones that they published on certain days.

OK, here are a few M8 shots from our Sacramento invasion. I need to develop that darn Tri-X...must get into the darkroom. Must get into the darkroom. Must get into the darkroom (maybe if I say it enough I'll get off my butt and walk the 30 feet).

Anyway, here are a couple rather bland shots from the day (I'm sure my film shots are loaded with creativity, exciting composition and social meaning by contrast).

Bob, Mike, Kevin, Steve, Donald.
The obligatory team shot. M8,28/6.9 Hektor, wide open (Ha!):

M8, 50mm Collapsible Summicron. Around f5.6 or so.

Sug,

We somewhat decided to make Berkeley the next location. Easy BART (or moto for you). Probably meet in Rockridge or Ashby and work that part of town. Have coffee at Cole Coffee, hopefully beer at The Trappist???

Honus: please join us on that one, ok?

I checked my IIIF serial number and it is a 1952 camera. Need to find one made in 1953. :)

Be well,

Bob

Oh can we please do another beer and gear in SF soon? Pretty please?

Well, Rockridge would certainly be an easy commute for me. I'm not sure how Mike would survive my 'hood, though, with all those Greenpeace solicitors roaming the streets.

Rockridge - home of the free-range coffee drinkers

I could make it to The Rockridge.. I'd have to put on my shoes and walk out the door, but I can usually deal with that.

By the way, The Rockridge is affectionately called The North Pole by my Oakland students living in its more 'interesting' neighborhoods.

Sorry I'm behind the curve in posting ... but the darkroom is now finally fully commissioned :)
Here some flatbed scans from my first batch of optical prints since I moved over here:

Donald.

Nicely done Donald! I must say that lens is unbelievable... the detail in that railroad shot is a thing of beauty. Plus, when you carry that around with the Frankenfinder you get an excellent workout!

Again, very nice... thanks for posting!!
