Processed one of my last rolls of original AgfaPan APX-100 this afternoon, it's hanging to dry in the bathroom right now. It was an unexposed roll I found in the back of a closet. I had cut the leader down to use in a Leica iiif, a camera I sold years ago. Loaded it up in my F2 and ran it through. Processed in Adinol.

Still have a couple rolls in the freezer, all from a half a dozen bricks I bought back in 2006, (before I knew AGFA was going to go out of business).

Just love this emulsion, wish someone would reproduce it.

I've never used APX, but, I happened to have gotten several boxes of 4x5 sheets for cheap recently. I was planning on processing in Adonal (Rodinal).

I shot a lot of bulk rolled APX 100 and 400 back in the mid/late 90s, in part because it was so inexpensive. But I also liked the tonality. Only thing about it that bothered me was its tendency to scratch fairly easily, even from the act of putting strips in plastic negative pages. Since I was printing with a diffusion enlarger it wasn't usually very problematic, but looking to go back through and scan some images in the near future, and I hope it won't be a big headache...

I still have about 40 rolls left in the freezer from the final Agfa batch, but it's not so long ago that APX-100 was still available in the UK as that last batch was huge.

There's a UK supplier who reckons Kentmere 100 (made by Harman in the UK) is the same film. I don't know if they're right, but I might get some to compare.

Oh, and searching around, Silverprint still seems to have some, so there's still some left at least this side of the Ocean (Though is it a new emulsion? Who knows?)
* Update: Yep, it seems it's the new (Kentmere) emulsion, so not the real thing.

I tried the rebranded Kentmere stuff and hated it. Found it to be nothing like the original APX100.

Still haven't tried the Silvermax, but that will be next.

Was relieved that this roll was still good as it expired in like 2010, and hadn't been refrigerated or frozen like my other rolls.

Shot miles of APX-100 in the 1990's when I was living in NYC. It was inexpensive, and I also really liked the way it rendered with a set of Canon FD glass I had at the time. My only beef with it is that it curls something fierce after it's processed, so I have to keep it flattened under a stack of books for a day or so before I try to scan it.

My trick is to wind it the wrong way (emulsion side out) on developing spools (with the film cut into two 18-shot lengths on two spools as it's tricker to load a whole roll that way round), then soak it in water again, gently rinse with a bit of a wetting agent, and let it dry on the spools - let it drip until it's almost dry and then put it in front of a gentle fan to finish. It does eventually curl up again, but it stays beautifully flat long enough to scan with ease.

Down to my last 3 - Tmax 3200- it's a shame I can't even save this for projects I dream of shooting, as it base fogs so quickly over time

I polished off the last of my APX-100 a few months back. I’m now working on my last 100' bulk-roll of Plus-X. When that’s gone, I’m not quite sure what ISO 100 B&W film I’ll try.
