How unfortunate that storied names like Rolleiflex should be used to peddle items that don't live up to the name on the front bezel.

...on the other hand, I do like the silliness of Instax and a TLR Instax is even more fun, it just hurts to see the Rolleiflex name used that way!

As many have already pointed out, it's just the MiNT TL70 with a different label.

The promotional text for the KS campaign is pretty embarrassing. I'd be surprised if DHW, or whatever is left of it, actually wrote it - more likely MiNT or someone associated with them.

I wonder how much they bought the name/rights for?

It's a world of fast business, fast money, and well.......

After years of exceptionalism people are finding new ways to reinvent snake-oil.

I dunno. It's not the first time Rollei licensed their brand. I had a Rollei point and shoot 35mm in the 90's made by Samsung. It had a Schneider-branded lens, surely made in Korea along with the camera. It was actually a pretty decent camera although large and brick-like. The lens was really very nice. It was great for casual family snapshooting.

To add insult to injury, it’s only takes Instax mini film. I be a bit more impressed if it took the newer, square-format Instax film.

Jim B.

I agree, take a camera that was famous in part for its square format, and then not use the square format Instax? WTF?

It reminds me of the final scene of Six-String Samurai, where the boy picks up the sword and guitar of the fallen samurai. Sure, the boy cannot play or fight, but in this decaying world he saw something honest and beautiful and he is inspired to carry the flame.
The original Rolleiflex is dead. And MiNT cameras are crap in comparison. But they want to make better instant cameras when no one else seems to care about quality anymore. That’s why, in my opinion, they deserve to keep the name. Not for what they are now, but for what they aspire to be.

I'll make Rolleiflex mobile phone cases but it means that I have to hold the mobile phone sideways to shoot landscape.
