safe to buy coolscan from ebay?

i want to get a nikon coolscan from ebay, because i can't seem to find one in my city (bucharest, romania).

is it ok to get such a big package, let's say from the usa or hong kong?

have any of you guys bought a used one, like this?

I bought a used LS-4000 off eBay from someone in Los Angeles and had it shipped to Germany, no problem.

I frequently get packages large and small from the USA, China, Japan etc. to the UK, no issues. Only thing to remember is to use PayPal or some other safe way of transferring money.
