VF101

My first test film shot with my VF 101 is back from the lab. I've attached three sample images I've quickly scanned today and done some batch improvements (resized and little bit more saturation) with ImageMagick. The third image is just a test shot for the rangefinder accuracy: Focus has been on the cross, shot wide open.
I'm very impressed by the sharpness of the Color Skopar lens and the high contrast images this little camera is providing. It seems the 20 Euros have been a good investment. The VF 101 is my first rangefinder.
Would like to see more pictures from the VF 101. Please post yours!

Welcome. Nice shots.

Thank you for the welcome.
So, as nobody else seems to post VF 101 shots, I'm showing some more. All have been shot on Kodak negative film and were scanned with Epson V330.

Old thread, but no need to start a new one I think. Full set here:

Yes, I discovered your blog today Robert, while doing some research on this camera. Great output from that tiny jewel. Ever been inside the body?

Sorry, was this directed at Robert or me?
If me... thanks for the kind words.

I shot recently with my Zeiss Ikon S 312, which I believe is the sibling camera to the VF 101. I like the small size. It's a very solid camera and weighs more than you would expect.

Yes indeed. As pretty as the VF-101.
And I find my 101 to be the same - tiny but solid and surprisingly heavy.

Well, here's one for you from 2004, on Elitechrome (accurate exposures!) scanned with an old HP fim scanner.
I liked the VF 101 but found it a "funny shape" and a little too small to hold comfortably.

I just ran my very first ever roll of Ilford XP2 Super through mine and rather liked the results. Here's one:

After far too long I've brought the VF-101 out again, this time stuffed with a roll of Kodak Max that expired in June of 2002 and has been "mostly" stored in a refrigerator since then, or so I'm told. I rated it at 200.
Oddly, my VF-101 seems to have had a wind problem partway through the roll and I ended up with a bunch of double exposures. It's like it was winding every second frame. Weird. I hope this is just something to do with this crappy old roll (tension?) and not a camera fault. Anyway, some of the results turned out to be pleasing to my eye so here they are for your delectation.

Trying for some rim light on the cactus... this is at f/2.8 I think.

And again wide open. A bit swirly?

For those who don't know, the VF 101 is the Zeiss Ikon sibling to the Zeiss Ikon S 312. Both have Tessar type lenses - the Zeiss Ikon has a Tessar while the VF 101 has a Skopar.
To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if they both used lens elements from the same line, and one camera received Voigtlander badges while the other received Zeiss and Zeiss Ikon nameplates.
I found the Zeiss Ikon S 312 to be a very good camera. I've used the non-rangefinder S 310 and have been very pleased with this camera.

There are a couple of other threads on RFF if anyone's interested:

I find this to be one of the most fun rangefinders I've used. The lens seems softish wide open but that might be me missing focus. Stopped down it's quite sharp IMHO. It does suffer from pronounced barrel distortion (corrected in the garage door photo I posted above, of course).
