I'm so pissed at Zeiss. They always seem to come out with great, affordable stuff after I've taken the plunge on a more extensive option. After years of debate, I finally get a second M body with a 0.58 viewfinder (I wear glasses), and then 6 months later the Zeiss Ikon with that marvelous eye relief finally hits the store shelfs. About one year ago, after a year of indecision, I get a 50mm Summilux ASPH -- a great lens and my favorite focal length -- and now Zeiss has something that might be comparable at half the price.

Anyway, enough complaining. Can someone direct me to B&W pics taken with this new lens. Thanks.

Yeah, zeiss really is making a huge effort to be taken more "seriously" as an affordable player in the current rangefinder scene. I like that new sonnar look (only color photos so far...whats up with that?) and really want to see some bw!

Based on the MTF data from Zeiss I don't think even THEY would say it's comparable to the Summilux ASPH. It targets folks who like the "look" and don't mind a bit of fuzzyness...of which I am one. If you need the ultimate, you've got it already.

Leica fan : snobism ??

Everybody knows that leica lens are best. The competition is only to take the rank 2.
Seriously ...it is not true. Zeiss lenses are even , it depends what You like.

Still no samples?

Personally, when I shoot at f/1.4, it is for the selective focus / narrow DOF, with the main subject nowhere near the edges of the frame. In this regard, the superior corner sharpness of the ASPH would be totally wasted on me.
