Wrong direction. We went south one block to Chevy's figuring 4th B&G would be crowded on game day. Chevy's was NOT. We practically had the whole place to ourselves.

It was great to see everyone! The HCB exhibit was fantastic. I'll probably be back to see it again. I decided to just grab a quick bite elsewhere because it was too nice out, and I couldn't wait to go take some pictures! Sorry if I missed introducing myself to some of you, I'm sure I'll see you again the next time.

Just got home via train an hour ago. Great, as usual, to see everyone. Missed saying hi to Sug...next time, ok? Too bad we could not be at SF MOMA at 11 am to shmooz more, but still saw most and really enjoyed my first tour of the exhibit. Got to meet the Pen Posse, too-oh my, another passion of mine just got better because I have new pals to share with.

Now I need to run some magic and turn an M3 with collapsible 50mm Summicron into a Nakaya urushi fountain pen.

Well, I wish that had gotten communicated somehow because two different groups of us wound up at the location we'd heard. I think you made the better choice, though.

Nice pics by Reese, who was rocking the best shoes in the group. It was good to see such a large turnout today. A good mixture of the old farts and the new blood. I look forward to seeing the pics posted for the decisive challenge. Thanks to Kent for making it happen.

Bob, I'll shoot you a PM soon. I've spent good an hour on the Nakaya site. Oh that is a true beauty. I've been coming back to their site through out the evening.

I went to Japanese pencil calligraphy tutoring school for many years when I was a kid, but I now really wish I kept doing it with fountain pens when I got older (traditionally you switch from pencils to fountain pens you as get older). We call that Pen-ji as a type of shodo (the way of calligraphy) which is less known outside of Japan compared to flashy brush based calligraphy.

OK, that was totally off-topic. I look forward to our next Gear & Beer & Pen meet. 🙂

However, I don't know what kind of accident could have resulted in salt and pepper shakers and a napkin holder ending up in my bag, rather than my SWC. Weird.

It was great to see everyone old and meet everyone new, and hats off to the Sactoans for making the trip!

Kudos to everyone for making it such a terrific day. great weather, a terrific HCB exhibit and an absolutely fantastic turnout! It was so nice to meet some new people, not that there's anything wrong with the regular crew!

Deirdre...sorry about the miscommunication! There was a rebellion at the door as we were leaving and unfortunately we must have missed telling you guys.

You will have until midnight on November 30th to submit your entries via email to: HCBentries@gmail.com.

Submissions should be no more than 500k and measure no longer than 1000 pixels wide.

Each photo should include a Title and the submitters Real and Forum name, if you have one. Also please include the forum/site name you are a member of. Include shooting data (camera, lens, film, iso...)

Pictures should not be shared anywhere before the contest. Anonymity is important for a nice fair vote later on.

Hmmmm, now you've got me thinking Mike. Robert said that he was going to try out some kind of a speed shooting technique, whereby he sprinted away from the restaurant as we left. He was flailing his arms and shooting while he sprinted down 3rd street...but soon he was well out of sight.

Yeah, the idea of going to a sports bar with a group of ~20 on a football Sunday at the exact time the local team's game was starting was the impetus for heading somewhere else. Most of us made it through the exhibit in about the same amount of time, and we waited just outside the HCB exit for about 30-40 minutes before heading out. The rumor that was going around was that someone had thought to share a cell phone number or two.

I think you can partially blame me for pulling the group to Chevy's without proper notification. I overheard someone making a decision so I walked straight out of the museum, and oddly enough, everyone totally followed me (must have been the shoes). HA!

The GRIII is adorable, Donald. (I may get one of those neat little cameras! So small, and 1cm focus distance, WHAT??)

Oh and forget the Hassy SWC and M9, I somehow ended up with a rare prototype M14. Uh huh... It has THREE dots on the front in red, black, and pink. Wow, take that, black-dot crowd!!!
