Anyone up for getting together to do some shooting near the holidays? I was thinking maybe Saturday the 19th or Sunday the 20th. The city should be packed with decorations, shoppers and revelers, many of whom make for interesting subjects.
Let me know if anyone wants to get together for some shooting and a few beers afterwards
Kent
ps- I was thinking we could meet at the Cafe de la Presse next to the Chinatown gate.

I'm shooting a wedding on the 19th, but the 20th would be fantastic! Hopefully my m6 makes its way back from DAG before then.

I'm very much interested. 20th sounds great. My family will be in town for the week of Christmas starting on 21st so this would be my last chance to geek out and shoot before the holiday week kicks in.

I'm out. Too much happening. Kent, check with Peter (rff
MCC). He was asking about whether there would be a pre-holiday get-together.

i'd be game -- either day I think. Hopefully my GF-1 will be here by then (ordered nearly 2 months ago and -still- waiting on amazon to ship it -- boy did Panasonic underestimate demand when they were planning their production schedule for the GF1).

I can't do it on the 19th; I'll know by this weekend whether I could join you on the 20th.
I saw the Japanese Postwar Photography exhibit last week. Some very interesting work there.

Did someone mention a pre-holiday get-together in the works? Sounds good to me. Maybe some SFMOMA too.

If we end up at SFMOMA, I can get one more in gratis on my membership.

i'll try to feel really, really sorry for you, John -- sheesh!
EDIT: I'd love to hit SFMOMA for the 战后日本摄影 exhibit too.

Mike- I'm up for the Japanese Postwar exhibit as well. I'll treat to a plate of "community" Nachos!
Francisco- I'll bring my D300 and big 70-200mm zoom in your honor. Nah, just kidding but I look forward to your next visit.

I'm free both the 19th and 20th and would love to tag along. I might even bring a rangefinder. Ha.

If we do it on the 20th and visit the Moma it is exceptionally good timing. Both "The Provoke Era, Postwar Japanese Photography" and "On View" by Candace Breitz close after that day.
Have a look.
Museum hours are 11-5:45 on Sundays.
Hmmmm... we could do:
11AM- Meet at Cafe and have a little "Gear & Lunch" get together.
12PM- Head into the museum and take in the exhibits.
1:30 or 2PM- Begin the street photo assault with our wacky gear.
4 or so- Meet back up for a few beers.
Just an idea

I will be on the Sonoma Coast that weekend, so I won't be able to join everyone. The Japanese postwar photography exhibit is excellent, btw. It's not just Japanese, but Chinese and Korean photographers as well. Kevin will likely want to spend the night there.

@kdemas: Yes, that sounds like a good plan. I'm totally down for that.
@honus: The horns are the best part of the outfit... You may be disappointed with the rest of it.

I'm mighty tempted to join in on the fun on the 20th if I can get away from this increasing pile of work (I know, I shouldn't be complaining given the state the economy and all). Do have another commitment that evening so would have to duck out a bit early, however.
