oh well... it had no beard but was also dressing in red, it was Mr. mailman ehehe
I got a Yashica 35 CC, but had to come to office and just found out the battery inside the camera is dead. Any ideas on what battery should I buy to test my new camera? Apart from some dust on the front lens the camera seems very nice...

I hope this will make a good camera for street shooting 🙂 And I am curious of all the fuzz about yashica electro lenses...

Sorry about the new thread, but I was too excited not to talk about it 😛 please share your thoughts on this camera...

You can also get an adaptor which allows you to use a more modern battery. I think you can get them from 'Yashica-Guy.com, you can certainly buy them fairly frequently from Ebay. The last 'Buy Now' adaptor that I saw was for £12, so their pretty cheap. Have fun - you should do it's a great little camera with a great lens.

Glad that you had a good Christmas, I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year as well, which you'll presumably spend on the streets with the Yash.
 
No adaptor needed. Just a V4034PX (LR44) 6 volt alkaline - found in most supermarkets. I love my cc. It is incredibly compact and the copal shutter is almost silent. Have fun!
 
Hmmm... I got a battery... but the shutter seems to fire only when he feels like it... 🙁
The battery test always turns on, the viewer light also works, but sometimes the shutter fires, and others starts not to fire :| Specially if it is supposed to fire long times... could this mean bad battery? The battery test light seems to be ok... Did I got a bad CC? 🙁
 
The top shutter speed is 250, the lowest is like 8 sec (I think), if the meter reading exceeds either of these I don't think it will fire. Try the camera in different light. I used to have one, they are excellent "little" cameras with outstanding lenses, enjoy!

Unfortunately shutter seems to miss fire even in good lightning conditions, like what should be 1/125. If I try to fire several times it misses about 75%. Then fires a bunch ok, then missfires again... no aparent reason, conditions are the same.. On slower speeds the percentage of missfires raises to 90% on 1/8 and 100% slower than that...

I took out top plate, camera seems clean, wires look ok... I dont know much about it... Any of our RFF Yashica gods knows what could be wrong? It is really sad ... I wanted to put a roll tomorow morning on it 🙁
 
I have one of these too, BUT I sent it in for a bit of work, the shutter is way to slow and they said they could not help me. It , to me, looked like the shutter need cleaning...but thre may be more...anyway can anyone suggest some that can work on these cameras....

Oh well... bad things never come alone...

I opened the lens part to access the shutter mecanism.. There I saw the problem.. the shutter was not getting fully cocked with the winding mechanism... it is not an electric problem.
the problem is that I forced one of the cocking mechanism parts and the metal has broken :|
I am kinda stupid trying to fix things fast 🙁

I hope you weren't the one who paid $335 USD for it last week on ebay.
 
Well... this was bought "untested because had no battery" for 30 euro. That is quite cheap, and I tought it would be all ok... ehehe it was not.

I am already trying to fix that part that I broken... unfortunately my budget does not allow me to ship this camera to hama :|

If I am able to fix the broken part, that leaves me to the other problem... What could it be that doesnt let the advancing arm fully cock the shutter? Does this 35CC also have the yashica pad problem? Do I really need to strip the leatherette to access the pad?

I've learned through sad experience that "untested because no battery" usually translates into "It's broken." I just got 2 Yashicas serviced by Mark Hama back in the mail after a week and a half. I have my first roll of film in since, but the meter and lights all work and it seems a lot cleaner. Cocking the shutter now results in a nice loud "clock" sound which proves he has replaced the POD. I will be out this PM putting it through its paces with some XP2.



Mark Hama can fix these things, if anyone can. So I heard from other forums and I see the results so far in camera response. Developing the film will tell me more. Good luck.
 
Oh well... after half a day devoted to this lovely camera, it is now working... The main problem was mechanic, problem that I managed yesterday to get even worst... However, with some imagination and time I managed it and it is now working...

First I managed how to cock and get the shutter to fire 100% the time, but after that I spent about one hour thinking that something had gone mad with the electronics because shutter used always same timming...
After a lot of time I got to know that the flash conector was shorted and the shutter aparently was firing at whatever speed it is designed at this camera...

I hope my fix wont get unfixed overnight, cause tommorow morning I pretend to do my first shots on this baby 🙂

However, although my fix is working, I would still be very very very thankfull If some RFF member would be able to help me get that part I broken, so that this fix would be "more" permanent...
If any of you has a yashica cc for parts please contact me, ok? 🙂

While the camera is working good, I am still trying to reach that part... It seems like the Yashica GX might have the same part, since they are similar... Any of our RFF members has opened both of these cameras?

Oh well... I shouldnt use this film for test film, but I did it and here are the first results... Seems to be working properly, although the film strong grain may affect some other conclusions... (this is really old ilford HP5 (not hp5+)).

Tried day and night shots, fully open and stopped down situations and this 35cc seems to be ok 🙂 There is a very nice feeling with using it, a feeling of quality I dont get with my canonet g-III ql17...
