Saturday afternoon alone

That sounds like a good day, relaxing day. I have done quite a bit today, time for me to make an early dinner and just rest as much as possible for the rest of mine. I did a little scanning this morning, and processed three rolls. One more tomorrow and I will be caught up.

I spent almost four hours in the darkroom today. Mangaged to develop four ancient rolls of Delta 100 (in DD-X) and get five decent prints before I ran out of time.
Does it always take that long, or am I doing something the hard way?
P.S. I know I lost some time, 'cause I spent much more than a few minutes cursing at stainless steel film reels today. I just couldn't get them loaded; I don't know what the problem was, but I'm blaming it on the D100 film base being different than HP5. Thank goodness there was a spare set of plastic reels...

I'd like to be developing, or shooting, but I'm working on an Oracle data model, plus I've been on 24-hour on-call application support since last Tuesday; every night has been short on sleep. I'm not alone, either - my 22-year old son is next to me surfing on his laptop (winter break from CU-Boulder and I'm enjoying his company) and we've got our new dog.
Not complaining, though! On the photography front my father-in-law has permanently loaned me his Ambi Silette (berfore it was just an extended loan), so I am now RF-enabled again. My own Ambi Silette jammed a couple of weeks before Christmas. So, I'm contemplating if I can participate in this year's PAW (never done that before), plus the once-a-month one-light portrait project. Since my Agfa jammed, I've also been enjoying my old Canon FTb.
I perform all of my film development workflow at home, except for the scanning negative part. For that, my Dad has a Minolta Dual Scan so I stop by my parents place when I'm ready for that.

Frank - you have one of those rooms that just cries out for some snooping, perhaps finding some long forgotten stuff buried at the back somewhere (perhaps a 50mm?)

When I die, it would be a pretty cool room for someone who knows photography to come in, look around, and offer my wife $100 for the contents. 🙂
Once I get one more 50mm lens from Clinton, I'll post a photo of all of them together. I'm also waiting for 2 cameras to come backfrom repair, then I'll post a shot like Keith Novak's camera cabinet one.

Jeez Frank, that is one darkroom...
I haven't had access to a darkroom in six months, it's getting to my nerves by now. Instead, I spent all afternoon reading up on Van Dyke and cyanotype printing which will be my next project. I saw some really nice cyanotypes here a week ago, can't remember by whom, but they got me thinking.
Unfortunately I have to import all the chemicals from the US which makes it quite a bit more expensive but I'll still give it a try. In fact, all photographic chemistry is ridiculously expensive here in Scandinavia. 🙁

SAturday alone, I drove down to Union Station to check the accessability of the train platform for my wheelchair and as long as I was down their take some pictures.
I then jumped [ok, rolled onto] the redline and headed to Hollywood and Vine. took more pictures and returned for a quick trip down Olvera Street.
And that is how I spent my "alone time" Saturday. [scans sometime next week ]

But that room, Frank -- clean it up 😉 On second thought, don't bother. Tell Mrs S that I'll give her that $100 to haul it all away. In fact, to make it worth her while... make that USD100. 😀

I wish I had a wife that would let me have a room like that. I've got plenty of rooms but I could cart my stuff away is a big Ford van, not just the photo stuff all of it. Still, I understand, for some reason there isn't enough room. Be careful of what I call 'fixer rot', I was a dentist from 1969 to 2002 and had many dark rooms. They all caused internal corrosion of my mechanical stuff, it's from the fixer.

That room is what we call a 10-in-5 (10 pounds of sh*t in a 5 pound sack), but I'd love to have that sack! Nice setup.

Frank, I love the room, a lot like mine but I don't have room for my cameras and if they were in one place I would be spending all my days alone. Do you use that polaroid much? Sounds like a great day to me.
