It's a big scoop for In-Public, it will direct attention to the website, much like the presence of Parke must have done for it in the past. I don't think Leiter needed to join a collective. Not for recognition or to draw attention, his photography has been doing that for him just fine and he's not like that anyway. Somehow I imagine he did it in a spirit of camaraderie to a younger generation that does a kind of photography that is in the margin of serious interest. He just comes across to me like that sort of guy. As I said, big success for In-Public to have him along, well done to them.

I think you are right about that. He joined as a "master" after all and not a regular member. I think that's what that distinction is for.

To me Saul Leiter is THE master of street photography. Above HCB, above all the rest. His works are bsublime - like poems in color.

I really like his work, am happy to hear he's still alive, but had never heard of In-Public. However, any venue to make his work known to more people is good by me.

Great admirer of Saul Leiter and his colour work.
I look at the photos that peterm1 posts on RFF - do I see an influence?
Wish my photos had the quality that Leiter's do.

Thanks. In a way you are right of course, he is an influence. But the odd thing is I started shooting like I do before I ever had seen his work or knew of him. But then when I did first see examples of his photos I knew immediately he was my kind of photographer and that reinforced my desire to keep shooting that kind of photo - color, use of reflections, shooting through windows etc as he does. I can't claim to be anywhere near as good as he is but I do find great satisfaction when a shot turns out and I can see a similarity to his work. So he does inspire me.

There is something mouth watering about his work.

His work awakens some questions in me: why does nobody post their kodachrome shots? It's been gone for only a few years and no one has posted their
Kodachrome images since then. Look at those colors!

I wish rff was more image oriented.
