Save me from myself

Everyone, I want to report that I am better this morning.

After reading Ray's post and then sitting back to reflect in the glow of the TV watching the end of the Colts v Pats game, I realized that he was saying that I already have the black 35mm lens I lust for, the Nokton. So all is better this morning. I am OK with my chrome Ultron.

empathy.

I've got GAS bad lately. I am dirt broke, but I want to buy another camera so bad I can't stand it. Or a scanner. Or SOMETHING.

Tonight I was looking at 4x5 cameras again. And at Retinas. Then the Hexar AF again. Then some M4s. What am I thinking? It's 3:12 and I have to get up in three hours.

Sickness.

It's real, people. I want you to know, it's real.

I'll see you in time.

Ralph, I'd be happy to trade you my black Ultron 35 for your chrome one, except I need a chrome camera with 35 frameline to mount it on. Got an M2?

We were getting ready to do an intervention.

I must be crazy.

Ok, I put my pretty much like new chrome CV 35 Ultron in it's box and actually have considered selling it. I want a black lens, I am loosing it.

Talk me down.

So, the plan was to sell the Ultron and buy a Biogon. Not a bad trade off, can't say anything bad about either lens. But because my Ultron is chrome?

I think I just like the thrill of going to the post office and then waiting for a package in return.

Ok, remind me that I am nuts.

Anyone want to trade a black Ultron for my chrome one?

Sick I tell you.
Honestly, if you just want to change your silver lens for a black version of the same (or something similar), what's the problem? Sure it's vain, but it probably won't cost much and it'll make you happy.

If you were oscillating between different lenses, selling and re-buying the same gear, then maybe you might need help. If you're always trying something new, it's not a bad thing; you're exploring, learning, expanding your experiences. Maybe it's unnecessary expansion of experience, but it's relatively harmless.

When you start hiding it from your spouse, when you stay up late after the family has gone to bed so you have quiet time to track down that "special lens", then maybe you need help. Until that point, have fun but be careful.

Just my 2 cents...

P.S. After I posted this, I read that you solved the problem. In either case, my opinion remains unchanged. Cheers!

My M6, all my Canon RFs, any other classic RF I find will be chrome. Chrome lenses look nice on chrome bodies.

I was just caught up in the hunt yesterday I think, the need to sell and buy just for the sake of selling and buying.

Ralph, the Ultorn is gorgeous in chrome! I have one and I've seen it in black, and it loses something in black--borders on ugly, plain-ness. You've something unique in the chrome version. It's the Palomino in your stable, the calico in a neighborhood of tabbys. Take a breath...Relax...Step away from this. ;)

Hey, I think that was our first ever successful intervention. :) It jsut goes to show that you have to want to be helped.

No, M Biogon. The Contax will be a 50mm machine. I always think about getting a Jupiter 12 for LTM, but I have the Canon 35/2.8 so that should satisfy my need for the classic look in 35mm focal length.

Len for lens, Ultron for Biogon just because I would buy a black Biogon. If my Ultron was black this would not even be considered.

Using a can of black kyrlon would be a very cheap alternative. Just remember to tape up the elements before you spray:D:D:D
