Just wanted to share another victory! 😉 I recently received a Konica Auto S along with a Minolta A. I went to work on the Minolta but I'm afraid that she is destined to be a "shelf queen" - too many problems and not enough info.

The Konica had a stuck apeture diaphram and after doing a search, I could find no way to get into it from the front. Evidently, the front element is not removable on the "S" - at least not that I could see. After my failure with the Minolta, I wanted this one to work! So, I gathered up my courage , opened the camera back and took out the rear element. I almost made a mistake and started un-screwing the top-most ring - the camera lens started to loosen up - I guess this one holds the lens to the camera! 😱 Found a lower ring and loosened that one up and out came the rear element!

Cleaned out the diaphram and after about 30 mins of washing, drying and "exercise" had the apeture working - Hurray!! 🙂

Good work!

I used a rubber crutch/bar stool tip to unscrew the front lens cover ring and get the front element out. The iris blades are reachable from the front that way. On the S and the S2, the iris blades seem to gum up before the shutter blades.

Guess that explains that! Not having any info on the "S" dis-assembly, I was looking for "notches" to get a spanner into. Oh well! - live and learn!

Thanks for the info Paul!
