saw an Oly OM-4T, oh my!!

List of rare OM zuiko lenses :
- evrything below 20mm
- the 21/2
- the 24 shift
- the 40/2
- the 50/2 macro
- the 90/2 macro
- all the "white whales" (high apertures telephotos)...

Stephan

To add to Stephan's list,
I would say the 50mm f1.2, 35-80mm f2.8, 21mm & 38mm Macro lenses, 8mm Fisheye, 16mm fisheye, and 18mm f3.5 are getting extremely hard to find as well.
Most of these have been picked up by Canon full frame D-SLR owners who go after edge/corner sharpness. When you start using 20+MP high resolution SLR's like the 1Ds MK III or the very high pixel density SLR's like the 12MP Rebel XSi, the most minute flaws in a lens are easily brought to the surface. The OM and CZ lenses seem to hold up without much issue.

I am aware that the 50mm f/2 macro is a relatively rare one. Looking to sell mine and just get the 50mm f/1.4 to use as I don't really need the macro ability.

I know that SHPhoto sells it for 490 EUROs on eBay - which is a great stretch. I have not, however, been able to find out how much it really goes for from any recent sales.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to price this lens? I would expect at least $300 USD. Is that realistic for this lens?

SH Photo is known for overpricing everything by about 3 times its real value. I'd say $300-400 is about right, depending on its condition. I bought mine in new condition for $250 a couple years ago from a camera store in Muncie, Indiana. It is a magnificent lens but it really isn't rare. KEH usually has them for sale, and I have seen several come up at local camera shops used over the years.

I have 2 of the rare lenses. the 90mm f/2 and the 18mm super w/a. I never use them anymore. Anyone know a price to put on them? They are mint so should be desirable.

The 90/2 usually goes for around $900 in excellent used condition. If yours is truly mint (real mint, not ebay mint! LOL), it is probably worth more.

The 18 i am not sure.

On really overpriced OM lens is the 40/2. I have one and I paid $500 for it. Way too much for a lens that sold for $100 new, but it has very good Bokeh compared to any of the OM 50's and 35's.

I have been tracking prices on forum buy & sell boards, ebay, craigs list, etc. for a few months now.

The 18mm f3.5 sells for $850-$1200 depending on condition. A scratched up front element will get you around $850 - that's the lowest I have seen them go.

The 90mm f2.0 usually goes for $950-$1100. If you have one like new in box - mint condition, you should be able to get $1200 for it.

The 40mm f2.0 is probably the best pancake lens made - exquisite image quality compared to the tessar 45mm f2.8 or any other pancake out there. $600 is average for this uber-rare lens.

16mm f3.5 fish goes for $750-$950

35-80mm f2.8 --> $950 - $1180

I was stupid enough to recently pass up on a very nice condition OM 250mm f2.0 with case, etc. for $1700. These along with the 180mm f2.0, 300mm f2.8 go for $3000+

The rare 21mm f2.8/f3.5 or 38mm f2.8/3.5 extreme macro lenses have been going fot $550-$700 and $350-$650 each.

hunghang: As much as I would love to buy a 50mm f2.0 macro for $300, the lens is worth a whole lot more. Recently, they have been selling for $500-$600 for copies in good condition. Try ebay and you should get $450 at the very least for that lens if it is in good condition. When it comes to Macro lenses, Olympus is king.

Pascal & Christopher,

Thanks for the info... once I've found a good 50mm f/1.4 or 35mm f/2, I'll try my luck on fleaBay to sell the macro lens. The lens I have is certainly in good/excellent condition (no fault/scratches/marks/dents) but not "mint"... so hopefully I'll get somewhere between $350 and $450 for it.
