Scale Focus with manual lenses ?

I am contemplating a Pen EP-1 , or more probably , a Panasonic G1 to use with a 35 f2.5 Color Scopar .
I am thinking - Aperture priority nom f 8 , focus generally [ at full aperture ]then use scale focusing so I can keep the aperture set without having to remember to stop down .just adopt the viewfinder .
Has anyone tried this ?
With my 4/3rd Dig 3 with 45 Rokkor , I do tend to focus wide open , then roughly stop down , counting clicks with Aperture priority , but the focusing is squinty tunnel vision .

With the G1, the EVF compensates for the aperture and gives you a bright image--or at least it seems to do so. I've used my 35mm Summicron quite a bit with this camera and I just set the aperture to whatever I intend to use and go with it, manually focusing normally. With my E-P1, I no longer even attempt to use manual focus lenses, opting instead for the 17mm and the Oly 25mm and micro 4/3 adapter along with the Oly 17mm finder and an old Leitz 50mm finder that works well with the 25mm.

Thanks - it's interesting that the squinty finder of my Leica Dig 3 tends to inhibit manual focusing , and anything less than wide open - f 2.8 minimum is a pain , so it's aperture priority and count clicks to stop down .
It's so easy with Pentax M lenses on the K10D LOL !
My new G1 is fine with the EVF - other than how it gets brighter and dimmer !

Works beautifully with Sony NEX and my CV Nokton 35/1.4. Hyper focusing also is a piece of cake.
