Scam?

Hi,
I have a Minolta XD-11 with lenses listed on my local Craigslist for $95. A buyer in Oregon wants to buy it for a person in Georgia. She is willing to send me cash but is leary of being scammed. So she is offering to send me a money order for the purchase and is even willing to pay me an even $100 (because she knows that it is worth more). And she is offering the use of her FedEx account.

I responded that it sounded like a scam but, just in case, I offered to put it on eBay with a Buy It Now offering. And that I would accept PayPal only.

First, does it smell like a scam?
Second, will using eBay and PayPal be a secure method?

Sounds ok to me..., not sure where you see a potential scam. You get a MO or cash, and no worries about shipping cost being more than you thought.. I sometimes will give out my fedex # to make things easier.

Does not seem like a scam to me. But to be safe, do not send the goods until the money order is converted to cash and then deposited to your bank account (i.e. do not deposit the money order directly).

This has the hallmarks of a scam. I have a friend that posts on Craigs list and he tells me it is rife with scams related to money orders, proxy buyers, and personal "shipping accounts"

Have you thought of contacting the police. The only way of stopping the scammers and preventing the less wary being caught is to get them caught.
