Does anyone know where do I can find color quartet win version to use it "run as date"? someone could please give some advice?
If you are looking for ColorQuartet, it's located here https://web.archive.org/web/2016081...-scan.dk/International/Downloads/download.htm

Does anyone know what the abc-scan modification was to avoid the stripes in shadows? Or at all, what the reason is for the stripes?
I don't think anyone knows what Michael did to the boards to fix this except Michael himself. It was some sort of modification specific to that board, he did 2 of them for me over the years. I doubt you will ever solve this, the only fix I found is to avoid really high res scans, which is one of the really great functions of the ScanMates.

Hello, I'm running CQ 5.2.2 on Windows10 with SCSI Adaptec 2906. All runs ok. I have few questions about the CQ.
1. I can't delete frame border.
2. In gray balance i can't move the ball. I only can press neutralize.
3. When scanning 16 bit RAW i'm following this guide to create a LIN scan. How i can add an ICC proifle.
4. ICC profile's. In a 16Bit normal TIFF i can't see any profile. Where are the locatd?
Thank You for all my questions

ICC profiles are located under the directory shown in CQ Scan. So, call up CQ scan / tools / options / ICC profiles.

Anyone happen to have an driver board for SM11000?
I assume my stepper motor driver is toasted, it moves a bit and then stops while screaming, much like stepped motors when the current is too high or too low.
Its quite random, when i power it on.. sometimes it works more, and sometimes less.
If anyone has any ideas about this, please let me know. Replacing the motor probably would not be that impossible, but replacing the board might be.
It has simply been sitting there, i have not used it in some time. It worked perfectly fine before.
Guess ill try to replace the PBL 3771 stepper driver on the board, with the brass heatsink. Maybe it has suffered some heat damage because the fan was disconnected.
Would this sound reasonable based on the symptoms? That the stepper motor always works for a tiny moment when i power the machine on, and then gets stuck between steps. It rarely does the initialization movement to completion.
IC22 = PBM 3960 "PBM 3960/1 is a dual 7-bit+sign, Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) especially developed to be used together with the PBL 3771/1, Precision Stepper Motor driver in micro-stepping applications. "
IC23 = PBL 3771 ??? Stepper Motor driver

There's another bug in ColorQuartet 4.4.2: When I choose TIF Grayscale 16 bit, the output gets completely scrambled. I have to take TIFF RGB 16 bit and convert to grayscale later. It seems in the 90's people did not scan in 16 bit so much...![]()
You want to do this anyway, as one of the channels will be sharper. Usually its the green channel that is the sharpest, so its usually best to do B&W from only one channel for optimum results. And this is true on all scanners that i have tested, the optics are rarely perfectly APO corrected.

Well, I removed the motor and hooked it up to arduino with TMC2208 driver.
It does work, but I don't think it works at the same speeds as in the scanner. And the torque is low. The way it behaves in the scanner, is exactly what happens when you try to run a stepper motor at too high speed or at too low voltage.
Not sure, I'm under the assumption that these motors really do not wear out. Expect bearings etc. And as it's the stepper motor, that used way less than the drum motor.
But of course, this is an old machine... like 25 years old I think.
The motor is rated at 6v, and I think the only way it can run so fast in the scanner is that it's running at way higher voltage. Then again, seems stepper motors can run at up to 20x higher voltage perfectly safely.
Hard to say. Guess I'll buy a motor and hope for the best.
Guess I have to admit, it can't be the motor. Motor is running just fine most of the time, when I start the machine up.. it just keeps running until I trigger the end stop. Occasionally it gets stuck right in the beginning.
It must be a power issue, the power spike that comes from the direction change must somehow **** things up.

Changing lamp, contacts, sockets and wires did not help - however, those stripes are only visible when I use ColorTrio, they do not appear in ColorQuartet.

Hi,
Does anyone know what causes these stripes on my ScanMate 11000 (see attachment)?
To make these particular stripes visible on this image I needed to adjust the luminance significantly in post process. However, Ive seen them more evident on a few other scans. It is not consistent though... at least not as far as I can tell.
Cheers

Hi All, I am new at this site, with my friends help we are trying to make a Scanmate Scanview 5000 to work. After many hours and test we got focus calibration done. We can not callibrate white, we are getting the error code 1971. I have attached the couple pictures, under this condition we are scanning pictures with this kind of stripes. Any help or suggestion are highly appreciate. Thank you in advance!

I think the first thing to try is to replace the transparency lamp and clean the lamp contacts. There are other threads here that reference lines in the scan (which you have) caused by either a worn-out lamp and or connection issues with the lamp. I ended up changing the lamp connectors, which are just standard halogen lamp parts.

First Post on this Forum! [Hello]
After Reading and trying and reading and trying i am finally ready to pester the world with my questions!
I own a Scanmate 11000 - CQ running on WinXP.
White Calibration not working. After some failed attempts on accessing the Monitor Program via Hyperterminal i got that managed - Everything starts up. But it does not take any commands from the terminal - Everything is set up according to further Posters and Instructions and there is a Connection - Just can't send any commands.
Local Echo says i sent it, but no echo from the Scanner.
Thanks in Advance,
F

8 Hours later: It is possible to receive and not being able to send. Cable cut and resoldered: Hyperterminal working. Aperture Calibration working.
White Calibration not working. Cleaned Contacts, Replaced lamps.

Might anyone have another idea of what i am doing wrong?
Best,

Is white calibration your only issue? Do the scans look ok?

Yesterday while scanning happened a strange thing: I heard a metallic 'clonk' noise (never a good sign), but the scanner continued the scan without any issues.
The surprise came when I wanted to remove the drum: when the cover is open, the drum cannot be locked anymore to the 0 position. I feel a slight resistance when turning it slowly, but it doesn't lock in place and therefore cannot be removed anymore.
Does anyone have an idea what that could be and how I can fix it?
Thank you!

Thank you!

I have removed the left cover and checked around. Cant see anything. The scanner does preview without problems.
I uploaded few photos (sorry for the quality, my phone camera is quite lame).
The part 2 shows an spring, but it doesn't move at all. The part 1 can move without forcing it if you just use your fingers.

I did something (not sure what) and the lock worked twice. After that, I ressasembled the whole thing and the next time y tried, it was again piiiiiiip...
Not sure what to do next.
Best regards: David
OK, so I found the old post describing a similar issue. I now disassembled my front cover and motor cover.
In the old post, it was reported that (2) would be movable. It doesn't move at all in my case. Can anyone confirm for the SK11000 that the bolt is supposed to move? If yes, by how much? It looks like the direction it needs to move is forward. Would you recommend trying to apply some force to get it moving?
Also, when opening the cover, the unit still moves a little to the left. Currently it behaves like the cover would be closed, being farer away from the bolt. This is not the issue; it behaves like normal when the cover is attached.
Any ideas how to proceed? I attached a picture.
Thank you!

Success!!!
Thank you very much for pointing out the old post. Encouraged by the story there I was brave and used a hammer (lightly) inside my scanner. Puh, scary moment. I then put new lubes, and now it seems to be all fine. Tomorrow I will make a scan to check whether anything went out of alignment.
When we are already at it: it seems the moving parts need new lubes. The old ones look pretty bad. Any recommendations what to use?
Thank you!
