Scanner Recommendations for Panoramic 35mm Images

Ive been going to Walgreens to have my film feveloped and then scanned onto a CD for around $11. But havent been satsified with the low resolution that they scan. Looks good when small but horrible when blown up.

I've been contemplating getting a hi-res scanner and scanning my negatives myself. Recently I got a used Horizon Perfekt panoramic camera and it turns out that Walgreen's equipment won't scan this film properly (it crops the image to a standard size).

Any affordable hi res scanner recommendations that will be able to scan these images? Affordable for me means around $100 or less.

Sub $100 & hi-res?! Erm, no.

Either you settle for a 1500dpi resolution of a flatbed or buy a proper 35mm film scanner and scan Horizon 58x24 frame in two takes and then stitch them together.

With your budget i would try to find a second hand epson v500

In terms of the budget, I'm talking about getting a used scanner (Criagslist / eBay / etc). So...I guess the budget would be more like $200 or so.

You might be able to pick up a second-hand Epson F-3200 if you are patient (max scan resolution = 3200dpi).

I picked up a spare one for about 50UKP on ebay. They were about 500UKP when new.

how about using your budget to get a macro lens for your digital camera? then take two photos of each panorama shot and stitch them. with care, the results should be pretty good. there are numerous how-to articles out there.

What frame size?
Is it true panoramic, or cropped 24x36?
IIRC, many dedicated 35mm scanners wont do panoramic (24x50+) images.
I've been scanning my 24x54 panoramic images with an Epson V500, and does great for my needs. It should provide results that far exceed the Wal-Mart scans.

With your budget I would give the negatives to a professional lab and forget about scanning yourself.
