The only flatbed that's likely to give you fine prints above 8x!0 from 35 is probably Epson's 4990 (or Brit equiv) or the most expensive Canon. The discontinued-therefore-cheap Epson 3200 and various older Canons will get you to 8X10 with most negs and beyond with a few. While I used that Epson I found it excellent color-wise with all sorts of film (color neg, E6, Kodachrome, B&W) ...it happily gave me whatever crop or non-crop I wanted. Very good device, no drawbacks EXCEPT for lack of Digital Ice (dust spotting becomes necessary) and limited resolution (like Componar Vs Componon, if you know them).
If it were me, I'd go for that Minolta IV. But it isn't me, so I initially got a 3200, which is great for 6X9 and 4X5, and later a Nikon V, which is incredibly good for 35-only.

Would like to upgrade
Epson 4180/4870/4990 all will scan 35mm negs and color and MF. the 4180 can be had for under $200
