Scanning whole rolls with the Nikon Coolscan, revisited

I had a tutorial on my website on this subject for a couple of years, but then I redesigned the site from the ground up and never got around to replacing the article. People keep asking me about it...so here it is!

Basically, you can hack the stock film strip adapter to scan whole rolls at once. This tells you how.

No it doesn't. Super Coolscan series only, the others don't have the necessary mechanics.

good info! i've had this hack going for the last couple years... makes a big difference in productivity.

I've recently switched from Silverfast (their version 8 is probably one of the poorest releases i've seen in years from anyone... from what I can tell, almost no QA done... at least as pertains to the Nikon Coolscan film scanners) to Vuescan. I do miss the GUI view of each of the frames, allowing me to pick and choose easily for a batch scan.

One of the problems I seem to be having with Vuescan though, is with the frame centering. Is there a better method out there than just picking a number at random, and going back and forth trial-and-error to get the frame centered?
