scary news coming out of Libya!?! Photojournalists killed

Been reading up on this all morning. Extremely sad. And I had the same thoughts as you Pickett. Not discrediting their work, but when should the line be drawn for safety purposes. This year is turning out to be a horrible year for conflict reportage.

While I deplore the loss of any life, these guys are doing what they want to do. They know the danger and choose to be there doing what they like to do. Let them enjoy their work and salute them when they die doing it.

A valid point. Just a tough one to accept.

From Vanity Fair:

http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2011/04/tim-hetherington-41-killed-in-libya.html

Tim Hetherington, photojournalist, filmmaker, and Vanity Fair contributing photographer, was killed today while covering the conflict in Libya. “Tim died about two hours ago,” said Peter N. Bouckaert, of Human Rights Watch, in Geneva, a friend of Hetherington’s. “Three other journalist were also hit [in an] R.P.G. attack, one being Getty photographer Chris Hondros [who was seriously wounded]; photographer Guy Martin, of the Panos Agency, who is in very serious condition; and a freelancer, Michael Brown, who is slightly wounded.”

Anybody know of any shots from the Libyan conflict that they took? Let's post links to their photos and honour them for the work they did by showing it to others.

Let's make sure their work was not in vein and that it maybe makes a (or the) difference!

My sentiments also. May they RIP.

Terrible, tragic loss. Do we really need any more photos from Libya? Are they worth these guy's lives?

For anyone that knows Tim's contributions to uderstanding and helping investigate/prevent conflict this seems a rather one dimensional view of what he did. I suggest doing a little reading to fully understand what we have all lost.
