Scottish Collector's 3,000 Cameras

Thanks for sharing. I think I have over 50 cameras now. Whenever I see articles like this I show my family and point out I'm not that bad afterall!

It does look to be a case of quantity over quality. At a quick scan there seems to be little more than Instamatics, Brownies and Lubitels. (I will now expect flak from the Instamatic, Brownie and Lubitel fan clubs).

Yes, I got the same impression but glad it gave him lots of pleasure.

He went on many trips on his own because he was only interested in being behind the camera, his wife says.
"Me being there was a waste of money.
"He took good photographs so I think he enjoyed the results. He wanted to make it more of a picture rather than just a photo. He was completely absorbed with it."
I would have loved to see some of his photographs.

Real photographers need to travel alone :D
Just me and you, just me and you (says the photographer to his subject).

More like using cameras to cover mold on old wall's paper.

True, but also the easiest thing for the photographer doing the story to photograph. I see some ok stuff in there here and there.

.....I’ll bet he came across a lot of “found film”. There’s a book, somewhere, yet to be written on “found film”. .....fascinating possibly in that way but as a collection it bores me. Overkill in dupes of common £1 stuff. Since it’s housed in a Salvation Army Building, perhaps best use is a donation and tax write off back to them.

Not sure how many I have (afraid to count). When ever someone new comes in the house the always have to comment "wow, you have a lot of cameras". And I don;t even take them upstairs..

I saw some Kiev or Contax. One had an early 50/1.5.....a zeiss lens even if it were marked kmz.
