Screen-less fantasy M9 project, comments are welcome and appreciated!

Thanks, Patrick, John and Andre, looks like an easy choice to me, digital Rolleiflex it is!
I use my NEX like a Rolleiflex cuz' of the tilt screen. It will be awesome if it handles and looks like one as well.

What?! haters? where?:D

Can someone please explain why they absolutely require a histogram?
For me, part of the excitement of shooting film is seeing what u get in development. It's like a surprise and a gift. I just think applying this feeling to digital is cool, no matter how backwards it might seem.

Because a histogram, unlike an LCD, can tell you if the camera actually records something that you expected it to, that you didn't just make a big mistake on the exposure settings (or lens cap :) ).

And at the same time it allows you to move on to the next shot without being distracted by the urge to "chimp." That alone keeps the "gift" in wraps until you see it at home. A pretty good simulation of film, I think.

Tung, you either have too much time on your hands, or you are a very productive mad genius designer :D

Thanks, Will, agreed on the first part :)

A freelance job finally landed, I will resume this fantasy project when I have too much time to kill again. Ciao for now

Dear Juju,

I work for Leica in the design team. Me and my colleagues liked your genius designs and drawings. We would like to make use of them in our new project for M9-P mark II. Would you be so kind to....

Well sure I am kidding :) but who knows maybe such thing can happen :) try posting in their facebook page...

By the way again very nice ideas and drawing for other cameras. Why don't you consider designing a digital Contax-G?

lol, you got me excited for 10 seconds :D Well, I am happy just to share my ideas among us geeks here :D:D:D
Yeah, a Contax G3 (or G2-D) will be fun, I would totally buy one to shoot my G21 & G45 digitally if anyone builds it. I will do this concept after Digital Rollei SL (or TLR) when business gets slow again.

:D they may become real one day...

I am looking forward to seeing your designs for Contax! Ah please add an adapter/option for manual focusing of the lenses on the digital Contax G. Like when you attach them to a sony nex.

Maybe, we might see the "M60" pretty soon :D

Tung and Andre,

Lately I've been shooting my 28 Cron wide open to loose DOF and shooting vertically on my Monochrom to shoot the square. This allows some perspective control when cropping to a square. Also know that the length of the top frameline is the perfect line to frame the square. I know that I'm effectively cutting the 16 MP count to only 12 MP; I figure the FOV is about 50mm in medium format; and I figure F2.0 to be about the same DOF as perhaps F4.0 on a Rollie 6X6.

It really would not be that hard for Leica to make a digital Monochrom that shot the square if they make the sensor 36x36. I think Leica could retain the same width and even use the same top plates from their digital M-bodies that are now in production. I envision that M-Body Square Shooter to be about as tall as one of my film M's with a TA Rapidwinder attached and be as thick as a current digital M. The image circle of all Leica Lenses all are big enough to cover 36X36 and perhaps on retro glass shot wide open the corners would display vignetting.

I say call the camera MM-SS: short for M Monochrom Super Sized; or M Monochrom Square Shooter. I figure 33% more MP on a enlarged sensor would make a 21.33 MP camera, but because of no Bayer Filter Array the increase in resolution is mucho more.

Sorry Andre, I think this would be a better camera for me since I own mucho Leica glass. Also know that I talked with and had lunch with the CEO of Rollie and the Director of Marketing at last years PhotoPlusExpo. Thes two gents attended the NYC Meet-Up and they gave me a major GAS attack because they brought the new current Rollie Wide and Rolliflex. Really beautiful cameras that remain very "German" in a great way. Steve invited them. At that time I suggested a digital Rollieflex.

If Leica made my MM-SS I would have to rob 7-11's to buy one.

Tung,

I say you should get a M60. I want to see one as they say, "See one in the wild." LOL.

I hope Leica listens to my suggestion and builds me a MM-SS AKA as the "Calzone" model.

To Leica AG,

Know that I have promoted Leica products at NYC Meet-Ups for over 5 years and have worked diligently as a Leica Ambassitor for free. Understand that I have organized the only Camera Beauty Pagent that I know of, and know that I have promoted mucho GAS that has made your company lots of money, yet I'm just a humble guy with a ponytail.

When you created the Monochrom, you made the perfect digital camera for a B&W only shooter like me. Please consider making my MM-SS mentioned above.

Cal
