Screen Protector for R-D1s

I was looking into LCD screen protectors for the R-D1s and came across the ones by Giotto. TheAEGIS Glass Protector Series. They even make a 2" one, which should fit. However the thickness is 0.5mm, so there is the question if the display will still store flush once the rpotector is one. Anyone out there who is/was using one of these LCD protectors?

I havent used those, but I did buy a package of PALM protectors from an office supplies store (10 for 20$) and have been using them on all my digitals for the past 6 years. Great investment.
BTW, I cant see the screen not closing all the way with a .5mm material in the way; you're safe there.

Invisibleshield.com has one that is the correct size. Their product is indestructible. I will post a recent war story when I have better computer access. Highly recommended.

Here's the story, briefly. Lost my iPod Nano. It was MIA for three weeks. Last week, I was looking for a dropped key in my son's car. Three weeks ago my wife gave me a ride to the train in that car and my Nano must have fallen out of my briefcase onto the floor/mud mat. For three weeks it was riding around on the mudmat, literally being stepped on with muddy, snowy, sandy footwear. I found it on the floor and was so depressed. It was a total mess. I figured nothing would work. Wrong! I gave it a quick wipe with a damp paper towel and it looks absolutely like new...and the click-wheel thingy also still works, which the Invisible Shield probably can't take full credit for. Anyway, I highly recommend them. I have them on the GPSes, camera LCDs, watches...anything like that that can be broken, scratched, etc. Measure the LCD - there is one that is the exact size on the IS website.

Why a screen protector? I use my R-D1s almost daily, the screen gets my fatty nose on it at every shot, as my dominat eye is the left one. I clean it - the screen, not the nose 🙂 - with my shirt from time to time. The screen is made of glass or very hard plastic (don't know), and the only real risk to damage it seems to break it accidentally by a tough shock - something a screen protector will not be able to avoid.

I haven't use those, but almost a year ago I purchased a screen protector set (3 pcs.) from ScreenPatronus. It fits and works just right. Still have two spares...

Didier, a good film protector can significantly increase the ability of the panel to survive a jab or other impact that would otherwise croak the panel.

I don't use a screen protector on my R-D1 either which is now over three years old and it doesn't seem to have suffered any scratches etc., but then I usually have it turned inwards.

A friends secondhand R-D1, which he purchased a few months back had quite a number of scratches on the screen when he got it though.

I don't chimp but I do use the menus sometimes and I have always felt that the connection/hinge arrangement was a little fragile, so I leave the screen facing out all the time, hence the desire to make the screen a little more impact-resistant.
