Does anyone know how to get the dof and the aperture lined up correctly to the top of the camera body? This adapter I have never lines up right it seems.
This is a common occurrence with many lens/adapter combination. It isn't a problem in practice and doesn't effect the focus accuracy of the lens or body.
If it's a CV lens, you can unscrew the lens flange and screw it back into one of the other sets of holes provided for this purpose. Otherwise you'll just have to get used to it.
Canon LTM lenses always have the scale rotated 45 degrees counter clockwise (as viewed from behind the camera). I think this is because that way the aperture setting is visible in the viewfinder of some of the Canon screw mount RF bodies.
Most screw mount Leitz/Leica lenses are that way also. If you use an variable angle viewfinder such as the VIDOM or Imarect you can't look straight down on the lens; the finder gets in the way. It's just one of the little quirks of life.
