Hi
I don't like the LH-8 lens hood.
Can you recommend better quality screw on lens shade (under 300 $) without the "tightening screw that makes the lens asymmetric"

There are a range of very good after-market hoods available from China on eBay. I bought one very like this for my 50mm Nokton (58mm) and for my 75mm f1.8 (52mm). Looks good, strongly built, works perfectly. Best of all its cheap but robust and well made. Being screw mount, it lacks the thumb screw that is found on the original hoods which I gather you dislike. The main reason I bought mine is not for this reason but to keep the originals in mint condition in case I ever wish to sell the lenses.

Does the normal hood fit on a bayonet? I could make one...?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the LH-8 hood is bayonet and not the clamp on style like the LH-3 that was used for the first version of this lens. There is no "tightening screw" on the LH-8.
Anyway, when it comes to the generic Chinese vented screw in hoods, I prefer to get them from the ebay seller Rainbowimaging. They have the same hoods as Heavystar and Taiiphoto, but they ship from New York and not China. Mine arrive in a few days time instead of 2-6 weeks (I'm in the U.S.).

Hi Cris...yes it's a bayonet fitting...I'd be interested in an alternative to the LH-8 too
