The mount may need adjusting, so if when the M6 has no film in it you lock it on B and look from the film plane at the rear of the bayonet mount lugs you should see how it works.
The lugs on the lens slide over a circular spring or springs, dependent on model, if the lens is at one end of the tolerance (or adopter in your case) and the camera springs are at the other end there can be problems. If the adopter is ok on your M6 but not on the M8 there is a problem with the M8.
If you are under warranty and are near to the dealer it may be best to ask him to mount several of his Leitz lenses on your M8. The M mount is designed to be effortless and easy but totally secure.
