Committed some faux pas/major errors today... it's like wadding a bike..if you don't desconstruct the accident and admit the painful mistakes.. you wont learn a damn thing...

1. High refraction glasses distorted side of head. Take OFF glasses.
2. Metered and white balance off keylight and stobe. BUT (for some reason) ...shot this shot with only keylight...so blown...
3. Keylight too close/too high power. Blown forehead.
4. Take time to put up backdrop no matter what...
5. Shot in .jpg (yeah not film..sue me..I can't manual focus anymore), so no RAW conversion / fixes available.
6. Always reset the camera at start of session..

Used Capture One 6 for B&W conversion. Cleanest I've come across. Period. Worth looking into.

Got lucky with the forehead as it lends itself to a high contrast look vs blown highlights.

This is why I don't get paid....yet 😉

The forehead doesn't bother me. I see enough detail in it that it didn't register until I read your comment. The glasses are a tough one. You could probably do something with the background in photo shop.

As for "yeah not film..sue me..I can't manual focus anymore" they do make autofocus film cameras. 🙂 I had a N8008s and a Rebel G. Still have the G and wouldn't mind picking up another copy of the Nikon some time.
