Screwy Ricoh

My Ricoh has a screw loose.

My previous model, a GRD 3, lost three body screws over the course of a couple of years. I didn't pay too much attention to this as it was well-used when I bought it and seemed to function perfectly regardless. My current GRD 4 recently started to do the same; this is more annoying because the damned thing is only about a year old.

Have I just been unlucky, or do GR Digitals have a habit of shedding screws?

(I plan to reseat all the external screws with a dab of nail varnish. Don't know if it'll work but it's gonna look fabulous!)

I have owned the GRD 1 and 3 , I am currently using the GRD 4 and never noticed this problem.

Hi,

Loc Tite do a fixer for them, try in a gun shop as they sell it for trigger adjustment screws. It stops them vibrating loose and takes up a bit of wear as well but the screws can be easily removed, etc: as it's not a glue.

I have a bottle of Loctite 222 on its way, and the remains of the GRD3 for replacement screws, so this problem should be solved. I'm still curious to know if others have encountered such an occurrence with their Ricohs.

Do you take cameras with you when riding two wheeled things or flying propelled airplanes?
I had impression Ricohs shouldn't loose parts. I've read some Sigma DP (original model) owners complaining about rattling parts inside lens barrel and loosing AF capability.

My first wife had a few loose herself (and me for marrying her I suppose). I don't think nail varnish would have helped. Or nail polish, as we call it here in the colonies.

never a screw problem for me, with 3, 4, and now '5.'

My GR Digital 3,4 and the GR are trouble free except from dust specks on sensor.

My trusty old GR1v had been shredding components (screws, viewfinder panel, power switch panel, etc.) all the way during the past few years, and is now hold together by tapes...

Also... if you're on a and do not keep any camera on the floor. Vibrations can work on screws.
