Sd card for R-D1

Why can't we use cards over 2gb on R-D1 ? when we shoot raw + jpeg it's only 100 pictures capacity.

...is the simple answer. Technically what the camera doesn't recognize is the FAT32 (32 bit) protocol used for assigning memory values in SD cards larger than 2 gb. Smaller cards use the FAT16 protocol and are therefore recognized by the camera.

My Digilux 2 is the same and only recognizes 2 gb or smaller cards...

Fair enough. I just thought the OP (and others) might like to know the reasons behind the 2 gb limitation.

Get the toshiba White 2GB, it works well on RD1s.
