The instruction book only mentions 4gB and 8gB SDHC cards. I don't know why I'd need anything larger, but as a point of info, has anyone tried a 16gB or #2gB? Do they work?

I think those memory card sizes in the tables are generally just to show how many photos those capacity cards hold.

I used a 32GB sandisk extreme pro 95mb/s and it worked perfectly. Stick with sandisk or lexar and you should be fine.

The X100 supports the SDXC standard which theoretically goes up to 2TB.
The largest cards around at this point in time are still 256gb though.
But yeah, stick with Sandisk and Lexar. Transcend is a solid budget brand.

I have to agree. SanDisk and Lexar have always been the best cards.
I never used Transcend until I bought one for my Pany G1 way back when. I've used two (4gb and 8gb SDHC, both Class 6) with the G1 for the last several years with no problems. I recently replaced the 4gb with a SanDisk Class 10/UHS-1 MicroSDHC so the old Transcend 4gb could go in my wife's new little Pany TS-20.

I use a 16GB Sandisk Extreme in my X100 with no problems whatsoever. I'm tempted to get a 32GB Lexar or Sandisk just for the heck of it.

I use a much larger card than needed. With a Mac, sometimes downloading introduces files onto the card that make the X100 as slow as molasses, so I reformat after each time I download (and I download after each walkaround/assignment/shoot). I could probably get by with a 2 gig card . . .
A 16gb card gives one over 800 raw captures... for you guys using 32gb cards, do you ever use the card until it's full?
