I'd say that finish looks fine in the interior of a Jaguar. But looks very weird on a DSLR.
It's suitable for a LF view camera, though.

Even if it is real wood, it may as well be plastic with that brittle looking polyurethane coating. Maybe a more subdued finish to give it a hand-rubbed look would have been not-quite so gaudy.
