I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in learning more about rangefinder
cameras and lenses read the many articles that have been written by reviewer Sean Reid.
Sean runs one of the few review sites on the web that regularly pays attention to
rangefinder photography and it's an important resource for people who want to know more
about this kind of equipment. Three of his rangefinder articles are available on the free
web site Luminous-Landscape and they are:

The Epson R-D1: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/epson-rd1.shtml
Wide-Angle Lenses for the Epson R-D1:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/rd-1-lens.shtml
Fast Lenses for the Epson R-D1:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/fastlensreview.shtml

In addition, Sean is regularly adding content to his own web site
(http://www.reidreviews.com) which is easily worth it's yearly subscription rate of
$26.50. He reviews both film and digital rangefinder cameras as well as rangefinder
lenses on both film and digital bodies. Current reviews include:

Epson R-D1 Long-Term Report
Leica M7 & Zeiss Ikon
Voigtlander Bessa R2A
Leica Tri-Elmar on the Epson R-D1
Zeiss 21/2.8 Biogon & Leica 21/2.8 Elmarit
25, 28, 35 and 50 mm Lenses from Leica, Voigtlander and Zeiss (ten lenses)

Photojournalist and RFF member Carlos Loret de Mola reviewed Sean's site in February and
his description can be found here:

Thanks Jorge. The review of the Zeiss and Leica 21mm lenses was just published and the 50 mm comparison will be next.

Cheers,

Sean

This is to add my endorsement of Sean's web site and to encourage anyone reading this to seriously consider subscribing to reidreviews.com. The $26.50 is worth every penney.

His reviews of the R-D1 as well as the Leica and other M mount lenses that he has tested on the camera provide unique insights for R-D1 users.

In addition, for those of us who continue to make use of Canon DSLR's, his reviews of the 5D and 1DSMII provide, I believe, a better perspective than anything I have seen elsewhere. about these cameras.

What really amazes me, however, is that Sean also takes the time to send personal emails on subjects that I have commented on or asked him about.

Perhaps an arrangement could be made wherein RFF Sponsor members could receive a "discount" to the Reid website?

An inducement beneficial to all?

Ed,

Thanks very much.

George,

What I'm going to do for RFF is to write an article for the site that gives an overview of my take on various rangefinder cameras and lenses. That should be ready sometime in June.

Cheers,

Sean

Agree entirely. And whether or not I share Sean's views on a particular piece of equipment, his reviews are illuminating and his view point often insightfull. A very good value.

I signed up a month or two back and initially thought OK this is good stuff, but how often will I come back here? The answer has proved to be FREQUENTLY!

I now go around promoting Sean's reviews to anyone getting into digital RF gear and especially looking at lenses. Reid Reviews is an absolute must for dRF owners IMO. Thanks Sean.

i love sean's writing but lately, no matter what is being reviewed, it's as much about the m8 as the lenses being tested.
great if you have an m8 but much less helpful for us film guys.

at one point he promised reviews from film cameras but that seems to be gone from his site now.

It would be great if the site offered the opportunity to purchase specific articles individually as well as buy a full subscription. I'm mainly interested in user M bodies and classic Leica lenses in the 28mm to 50mm range, however occasionally I'll see a reference to a review that I would like to read on the pay site. The NY Times and many other subscription sites offer a paragraph or two of an article as a teaser and the rest is available after you pay for it. It may be more complicated in terms of the business model, however having more options could increase purchases which could generate buzz which could lead to even greater revenue. ;)
