Sears 35|RF / Ricoh 500G made in Taiwan or Japan?

I was under the impression that they were made in Japan, but now that I have one it Im surprised it simply says "Taiwan". Do those of you who have one confirm Japan on some models also? The "Approved" sticker says 1982, what do some of you guys stickers say? Im trying to verify when and where they were made? Ive seen Ricoh 500G made in 1972 on some sites but this sticker says 82 which may or may not be the year. Thanks
