second om has landed

just opened the parcel from trius and my second om 2 (non n) is in hand.

it looks great, very clean and has a white cover of some sort on the body.
could be a good snow camera😉
this will likely be for the small 100/2.8 lens.

the other om 2n has the winder and the 180/2.8 lens attached.

i think the 100 set up could be a blast to use on the street or for some portraits.

The white cover is transfer belt material from a Xerox copier. Actually, it wasn't from the copier, it was a brand new belt that a friend of mine was given by a Xerox tech. My friend then put it on the camera, and did a good job of it.

The goal was to make the body slightly less of a heat sink, but mainly to improve handling by giving a better grip. This stuff is really "grippy" and while the look is a bit strange, I predict Joe will grow to appreciate it, especially during cold weather.

If I hadn't had so many OMs I would have kept that one myself!

I think this is related to the topic. Well, anyway I just have to share this with you!

In Finland we have this online auction site called huuto.net (basically it means shout.net) that has a crappy collection of cameras and other stuff usually for high prices. But I was checking it out a couple of days ago and scored big time! Black Olympus OM-1, 50mm f.1.8, 28mm f.3.5 and 85mm f.2.0, some camerabag and filters, hoods + other stuff. I snatched it and I should get it by friday in the post. 🙂

Traitor! I buy SLR'S too but I don't talk about it on this site. Instead I let my wife yell at me. I adhere to the don't tell policy but now you have forced me to confess. My vice is Canons, however. Recently, I used an old Nikkor H 50mm F2 with an adapter on a Canon 650 EOS and took a similar shot with my new Leica M6 with athe Zeiss Planar 50mm f2 ZM and frankly they are of similar quality as are other shots on the two cameras. Th Canon cost me $29.00, the Nikkor lens (pristine) $11.52 and the adapter $11.00 from Adorama's Ebay site with no postage as I picked them up in person. The Leica was $1199, and the Planar was the last one to go at $600. All the shots are of equal quality. Soon I will post some as I have been learning rhe ropes of a new Canoscan 8600F which I will recommend highly as it exceeds all my expectations for a scanner at that price. Just joking about traitor. Enjoy your gear Joe.

Excellent find!! The 85/2 is somewhat coveted, very fast and small for it's speed. I sit mine next to my Nikkor 85/1.8 and it's looks like a normal Nikkor!

Wow! cool...

Joe, the texture shows up on my monitor especially from the curve side of the camera.

Gee, if we do the same thing on a black OM-2, then we'll get an inverse of a normal chrome OM-2 😀
