second Zorki pictures

Okay, I admit, it's the first pictures I post. But it's the second roll of film I shot with the Zorki. The shop screwed up this roll and offered to re-rinse the film, re-print and give me scans for free. Not a bad deal, but there's still some dust on a few pictures. The only thing I did on the computer was resizing, and where necessary, rotation and crop.

I'll have my real first pictures scanned later (they were colour: Portra 400VC). This is XP2 in a Zorki with Industar-22 lens at, ehrm, various apertures. 😛

Nice pictures. Where did you get the Zorki? I want a Z-1 or Z-3 myself, but don't know where to look here in belgium. Would prefer not buying from Ebay as they are quirky fellows those zorkis.

Hi Peter, nice pictures; especially nrs. 1 and 4. The Industar does make a nice combination with the XP2. Let us know when the 400VC pictures are up!

I didn't get it in Belgium, I bought it on a trip to Poland. I can only agree with you about yaBe for Zorkis: I've had bad experiences with much less sensitive equipment than a Zorki.

Hopefully next week, when I finish my current roll. I just got a deal to have my scans together with development (I wish I had thought of asking before), so it'll be quicker after that 🙂 I'm aiming to shoot at least one roll every month, hopefully 2, to get off my lazy butt.

Somehow, I'm not a very big fan of the XP2's colour: it's very light and slightly grey when I compare it with the oomph I got from HP5 before. I wanted to try it because it's been advised to me as a fine grain film. The grain seems to become very noticable when even slightly underexposed, though. Since I'm using a selenium meter and I'm just getting used to the Zorki as well, a bit more flexibility would be appreciated. My current roll is a Kodak T400CN (expired, but it was given to me together with the XP2). Next, I'll try a Delta100, and I'll keep trying until I like what I see 🙂

Ah, I see.

If you like HP5+, you'll love FP4+. Similar, but finer grain and a richer tonality. Splendid in Rodinal. Delta 100 is extremely fine grained, but a bit too clinical for me - less so than Tmax, but still not as vibrant as a good-fashioned non-tabular grained film. Supreme resolution though.

What ISO are you shooting the XP2 at? I use 320 and like the results.

I'd say regular 400. But then I'm only barely getting used to handheld metering, so it's not all that accurate. I've noticed my meter consistently gives 1.5 stops less exposure when I'm using the opal glass for incident metering, and reflective metering has given me a few underexposed pictures, so I'm going to edge towards overexposure and see what it gives. I guess that basically comes down to your advise of using it at 320ISO.
