I am dee'lighted with the clarity of the pentaprism 100% finder , screen and images of my impulse buy bargain Pentax K1S , which is a leap forward from my old Sony A290 and the EVF of the Sony A35 .
I did not realise how much cameras have improved .
It's the perfect companion to my Fuji X-Pro 1 .

However , I would find it impossible to choose a new camera from the displays in a department store , or the madhouse of Currys who stock all electrical items .

I even had to take a chance on the White River and Beige interior of my VW Beetle , currently on order as no samples were available .

I am out of the upgrading game now , but will, as ever , continue to trawl the ex-dem shelves just to try out something different !

Does anyone else find this difficult ?

Well, I'm in the middle of trying to buy a couple of camera bags and none of the ones I've seen in shops are 'right', and so I'm having to look online.

I recently bought a 'stratus 6' bag 'cos it seemed alright in the pics and description, but when I got it I found the side pockets had no padding and the main body had thin padding and the dividers were thin and a bit short so I sent it back.

There are several others which seem to be close to what I want, mainly 'Hama Rextons' and 'Cullmann ultra light pros'. The Rextons have rain covers which don't completely cover the bags and the Cullmanns may not be quite big enough so I'll prolly have to flip a coin and hope for the best.

So I suppose I am finding it difficult to 'see before I buy'. Although I prefer the more accurate term 'fiddloe with before I buy'.

I'm with you on that, dee. I even try to see ebay things in the flesh first, partly to figure out if they really work, partly just to find out what I'm thinking of getting.

I bought the Mamiya m645 sight unseen...never held one...it was big and awkward at first but today it feels just right...
The same with my Zone VI View camera...I had only read on it...I ordered it from my local Calumet store and when it arrived at my house I had it all on the living room floor and said to myself..."What have I done...???"
If I enjoy the gear I will adapt to it...the one style of camera I'm not entirely comfy with is the Rangefinder...I find myself too slow with it but under certain circumstances that's a good thing...
