I'm going to Italy (from Florida) and, although my wife has her laundry list of sights to see, I intend to use my cameras to describe my views of this beautiful country. Those of you who have been there from the states must have noted a distinct difference in the light and sky... the thought of it is driving my dreams until we go in March...what film would best capture the clarity and dramatic color contrast available over there? I'm taking my favorites, the MP/CLE combo with m21, m28 both asph, 40 f/2 rokkor, m75 f/1.4, and m90 f/2.8. Any comments or suggestions requested...

Stick with the film you've always used. If you aim to go for a super saturated effect you might want to chance film, but otherwise I wouldn't. In my experience, the film that you use at home will do as good a job away from home.

If you scan your film you can always adjust colour saturation and contrast to your liking. I agree, stick with the film you know.

Thanks, guys. I've been using fuji nph color 400... I like the saturation and definition even with the bright light and high iso (I use the same in bright Florida light). I guess I was thrown by my memory of a dramatically different light... maybe more memory than reality. Anyway it makes sense to 'dance with who brung ya..." .

Up until a week ago I owned a CLE and I strongly urge you to try shooting fuji NPC (now Pro C) with it. The results I had with that combination were always amazing, somtimes even, dare I say, magical. The contrast of the 40/f2 and that of the emulsion combines beautifully. Last year I went to spain (similar light) and all I brought was the cle with the 40, a t3, and about 60 rolls of NPC. I suppose the next best would be NPZ, then NPH, and lastly NPS. Go for it.

Sounds good but where is the backup camera?
I'd urge you to bring a backup camera, even if it is just an Oly Mju II.

Two cameras, three or four lenses, B&W (Tri-X, Scala) and color (whatever makes you tick). Tripod? With RF cameras? Naaaah!

Have a nice trip! :)
