That is the standard current Leica promo since they raised the price of their not selling new cameras a few months ago.

IF (and that's one big darn IF) you can find a Leica dealer who has an old stock (ie, pre-price jump) M7 on his shelf, and IF he hasn't jacked up the price, this takes some a tiny bit of the price sting out of buying a new M.

This promotion lasts until the end of the year for US Passport sales only. As was said it is designed to take the sting out of the price raises. I was lucky enough to get an M7 a couple of weeks ago for a price that when you include what I can sell the Leicavit for will be around $1600 or less (if I'm lucky). This is a new M7 with an MP finder and a 3 year U.S. warranty that I am going to extend to 5 years. I stumbled onto the deal and hopefully there will be more like it out there before the end of the year.
