I just recently bought a Sekonic L-208 Lightmeter to use on my Contax IIa and Realist Stereo cameras. The meter is very small and fits in the accessory shoe of the cameras. I am pleased with the accuracy and convenience of the meter.

However, the reason I'm mentioning this is because the meter has on it the marks for the old shutter speeds. Instead of going through mental gymnastics it has the marks for speeds like 25, 50, 100, etc.

Hey Ted,

Ya.. I looked at both the 208 (Twinmate) and the Voigtlander meter when I was getting a pocketable meter for my M3 and IIIc. Turns out that the 208, while cute and neat was just a wee bit "thicker" than I wanted on the top of the cameras so I went with the Voigtlander instead.

Either way, they are handy meters for non-metered cameras 🙂

Cheers,
Dave

Ted, I am interested in that meter. Dave doesn't think thicker is better, but some of us know better ...

Anyway, when I look at the photo of the meter

on the Sekonic site and zoom in, I see the standard, modern shutter speed progression. Do you have a different model then? This is a bit weird. Maybe you just need to buy older cameras with the old shutter speeds.

If your Contax and Realist need a home ...

Earl,

If you look at the picture of the 208 on the speed dial notice, for example, the mark beween the 15 and 30, the mark between the 8 and 15, and the mark between the 4 and 8. These correspond to 25, 10, and 5. These marks continue up for the whole dial. I didn't realize this meter had these until I used it the first time the other day with my stereo camera.
