I have just bought a Sekonic L208 and don't understand why the EV scale is on the meter as it doesn't seem to match my paper EV scales, what am I missing? am I being really stupid?
I thought the EV number would match up to what ever ISO I had the meter set too.
I had just read Fred Parkers the Ultimate Exposure Meter http://www.fredparker.com/ultexp1.htm and was trying to estimate the EV numbers, then checking with my newly purchased Sekonic, and couldn't work out why all the figures didn't add up.

I'm glad Fred Parker's material is the "paper" you were mentioning. I was almost afraid to ask, but thought it was that or something similar. A lot of folks like to bash Parker... but if one invests the time to understand the details it is a wealth of information and the basic knowledge that good photographers should know. You'll appreciate your Sekonic (whichever model you just bought) even more now that youve fiddled with the comparison.
