I'm considering this meter as a compact, flexible meter that can be used either handheld or slipped onto the accessory/hot shoe of an RF.

I know it's not of the most robust construction, but how bad/good is it in that regard? Does anyone have experience with this meter/provide opinions, feedback, etc?

Hey Trius,

I've had a Twin Mate for about 4 years now. Great little meter. Some have complained about it's "toy like" appearance and lightness but I've not had any problems with it. For a while I used it as a clip on meter with a Kiev 4A but gave up on that because I had to use external finders. Instead I've been slipping it into my pocket or keep it in a small pouch on my belt. I've dropped it a couple/few times and it hasn't suffered any damage and it has retained it's accuracy.

Hello Trius,

One nice thing about the Twin Mate that I forgot to mention is that the meter holds the reading for about 30 seconds. I find this handy because sometimes I take readings from angles where I cannot see the scale. After you let go of the button the needle holds so you can read the scale.

Attached it an old digital shot of my Kiev 4A with the L-208 on the shoe. Apologies for the quality, I took this years ago with my old Kodak DC120.

It's a great little meter. I use it with my IIIf, as well as my Yashica TLR; either carried in my pocket, or on the cord around my neck. Occaisionally on the hot shoe, but not much since I got an SBOOI finder.

I agree the 'hold' feature is nice, and it also has marks for the 'old' aperatures and shutter speeds on the IIIf. Build-wise, it has survived me for nearly two years, and I'm a clutz.

Baggy jeans, IIIf/Elmar 50/3.5 in one pocket and the L208 and a spare roll of HP5+ in the other... makes for a nice walking around set-up.

I use mine with a Rolleiflex and other M/F equipment, Mir, Leica IIIc, and whenever I feel like it. I am pleased with it.
