I thought I'd share a few shots from the first roll I ran through my newly acquired R2 and CV35/2.5PII. It's definitely a different type of shooting than I'm used to coming from SLRs.
All done with HP5+ and rodinal.

You have some good photos Derrick. Especially on your photoblog. Took time to read the artical on Gary Stochl. His work is fantastic. I saw where you work with a Hassy. Is this your first rangefinder? Interested in reading more of what your feelings are of using this camera.

Yes, this is my first rangefinder! I really can't remember what prompted me to get a rangefinder, but I'm glad I did. If I'm not mistaken, I was just looking for small compact lenses and came across the Pancake II and found some great photos taken with it on Flickr, particularly with RFF's own Avotius, and after doing a lot of research I found rangefinders to be really suitable for the type of shooting I liked (street, documentary, PJ).
I'm really liking the R2 and am glad I got it. I was a bit hesitant at first because it really looked like a toy (by appearance, atleast) but was pleased it was far from it when I got it. It's a lot lighter and compact than the SLRs I'm coming from (20D, Elan 7, New F-1, Hasselblad), but not to the point it's too delicate to have some real mileage run on it. I love the viewfinder and how much more "open" it feels compared to SLRs and how much easier it is to focus. I think my only gripe, if I can even call it that, is the shutter noise. It could be a tiny bit quieter, but seeing's how I'll generally be using it outdoors, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The short throw of the Pancake II's focus is awesome, though I think the focus could be a bit more looser. I'm hoping that will come after some more use; I purchased a CV40/1.4 off ebay for a cheap price to see which lens I preferred and found its focus much more ideal.

If shutter noise is an issue for you, why not buying an additional compact rangefinder with leaf shutter and 1.7 or 1.8 lens? These can look even more toy-like, but are capable of good results.
