I have a oh so neat , non working clip on , uncoupled selenium Leica meter free with my favourite 1947 [ my age ] Leica IIIc .
I assume it is contemporary to the camera ?

I am investigating the possibltity of having it restored to use with my non-metered Kievs / Leicas and Zorkis . [ cutting down a Kiev 4 cell ]
I know that will have restricted range and accuracy - but I am accustomed to using a Leningrad , and latterly the meter of my Kiev 4 .
Under normal conditions it is perfectly adequate .
I guess I would like to have a matching vintage meter for my cameras .

Any thoughts / advise - and I have a Jessops CDS which is excellent for £25 and a working Master IV as back up , so I don't '' need '' it !

Then do it! George at Quality Light Metric (in Hollywood, USA) can do an excellent job restoring and calibrating it, if you want it done professionally. :)

Go for it. if it's just dirty contacts you'll have it back in business in no time. If the cell is dead, there's a company out there who offer selenium cells (though a custom cut job costs over $25).

I replaced the dead cell with a solar cell from a calculator and a variable resistator in my Metraphot 2 meter.

Thanks guys - Mike Haley in Ukraine thinks his guys can do it alongside a new cell in my Kiev III '' Enigma '' ... roll on ENIGMA II CLA !

I just read through your post on your fix. Very interesting and inventive. I might have to attempt it.

George at Quality Light Metric just restored two Weston Master V meters for me. Perfection! They both give exactly the same reading up and down the scale! He can make that Leicameter work like new, but the finsh of the chrome will look the same.
