self imposed computer ban?

As far as my photographic prints go, I'm already there. I shoot and print using optical/chemical methods. But for the rest of it... why on earth would I want to do that? Online bill paying alone is worth the investment.

George, my friends and I have tried every possible way getting Google's blogspot to let me post again. http://thepriceofsilver.blogspot.com/ is still there to read but I can't post on it. Blogspot wouldn't let me set up a new blog either. I kept getting an "invalid email address" message. Finally I figured that there's got to be a work-around to the conundrum. I set up an email address with yahoo.ca which is the Canadian yahoo, picked a new email name and password, and then I had no trouble at all getting from my yahoo account logged into blogger to start a new blog. The new blog is named http://thepreisofsilver.blogspot.com/ using the German word for "prize" where "price" was in the old blog's name. Damned computers!

Over the past few weeks I've shot a few rolls of B&W in the Leica CL with the 40/2 Summicron but I'll soon be back to the Bessa L with the 15mm Heliar. In straightening out the usual mess in my living room I found a couple of discs shot with the 15 several weeks ago. I also found a box with tear sheets from various magazines, some cover shots, and some brochures for Barry College (now Barry University) from the 1970's.

Also, yesterday I got an email from a woman who ran across some of my Seminole Indian photos on line. She's doing some kind of project about the Seminoles and I had the impression that she needs a bunch of images, so I'll have the incentive to print up a bunch. The photos were shot back in the 1970's when they mostly still wore the traditional patchwork clothing, before tax-free cigarettes, bingo, and casinos turned them into millionaires.

The North Miami Historical Society has joined into the "Let's bug Al to print up his old photos" brigade. I gave the police dept. and one of the city councilmen a scan of a bunch of cops at the firing range that was shot about 1970. Today I got an email from the police thanking me and telling me that they'd found a couple of old timers that could I.D. most of the officers. They also wanted to know if I had any other shots - I have hundreds! - because I was the city photographer for a decade or more. I also said that the first photo was a gift but I need to get paid if I make up a bunch of prints...LOL

So yeah, the blog will be an ongoing project. Old pictures, new pictures, pot smoking hippies, cops practicing their shooting, U.S. presidents to Indian chiefs to Black Power leaders. It's been an interesting life. It still is.

Once I get up to speed again http://thepreisofsilver.blogspot.com/ should be an interesting blog complete with my favorite toy monkey Monkette harrassing the local politicians and lots of 15mm photographs ;-) Give me another week or two. Thanks.
