Hello everyone,

Can anybody share some ideas and advice regarding publishing (printing in a book format) a collection of images. I am working on a self assigned project for capturing portraits of interesting people in my local community. People who quietly do good, and most of us hardly notice them let alone recognize their contribution. I plan only two portrait of the person, and perhaps half a dozen related images of what they do. I think I can cover maybe a dozen people.

Does anyone have any experience of actual printing and production or anyone who tried the iBook method? I am not even sure if Apple still supports it? I do have some background in graphic design and typeset, so I am not too concerned about the layout as much as production. Should I choose an e format for the tablet world, or is there still a market (not commercial) for a traditional photo book? While I am prepared to finance the project, however I would be curious if is it reasonable to expect some cost recovery?

I appreciate any thoughts on this. Thank you in advance.

Andy

Apple still supports iBooks.

I keep saying I'll take the time to figure out how to sefl-publish projects in Amazon Books. I choose Amazon because their buyer base is much larger.

It is much less expensive to publish e-books. I believe this essay describing the state of traditional photo book publishing is still relevant. One photographer's recent experience with producing a traditional photo book can be found here and here.
