Hi all,
I've just ordered a new bessa R3a with 40/1.4, but I still don't know whether is has a self timer or not. Cameraquest doesn't mention it, Adorama says it has.
Anybody has the answer? if it has, is it 10 sec delay timer?

thanks,

David

Nope

Nope

Great Casmera and lens, that's what I use 😀 just picked up the CV 75 as well, very nice.. I have it here in front of me and I don't see a self timer.

That's the only thing that's missing, as with the Leica CL---no timer! Oh well.

Now here's a funny thing: the only Bessas with a self timer are the L and the R. However, the manual of my Bessa-T still lists it as one of its features.. Go figure.. even the drawing on the front page is a stylized R, and definately not a T 🙄

If it doesn't have a selftimer, you can get several mechanical ones that screw into the cable release thread of the shutter release. I bought one of those, mine's a fourth version Autoknips. It looks a bit like a toy train-set signal and it amuses most onlookers no end. (I should add that luggage handlers at airports are less impressed: best to put them in your main luggage, not the carry on bag!)
They'are only a couple of pounds. See here:

Hmmmm, I have a similar looking timer for an old Polaroid 250 folder.. I'll have to see if it fits the Bessa as well.. more toys!
