Self Timer Photos... Contax T2 vs T3

How easy is it to shoot a self timer photo when the subject is off center? For example, if I want to set up the camera and take a photo of myself (with me standing on the edge of the photo), what is the process with either the Contax T2 or T3?

It seems that the T2 would be easier to set up since it has separate dials for focus distance and self timer. The T3 has both functions embedded in a button selector.

I am asking this because I plan on buying either of these two cameras for bicycle touring. I'll often be alone on these bike tours and usually the subject (me, or the bike) is off center.

Please tell me if off-center self-portraits using a self timer are a deal breaker with either of these cameras.

I own the fabulous T3. Your task is not a deal-breaker, but deliberation is required. That seems okay since you need a tripod. Proceed as follows: (1) set up tripod; (2) go the position of the subject (yourself); (3) mark the spot at your feet; (3) focus on the tripod head with T3 AFL button; (4) mount T3 on tripod; (5) frame the scene; (6) set self-timer; (7) depress shutter; (8) hit your mark within 10sec.

To take more than one shot without repeating the entire procedure, ensure Custom Function 6 is set. Use of manual focus is not necessary but, if you can set up your mark by eye, then set CF7 for quicker shot-taking.
