Some newbie questions:

I've been buying cameras for about a year now and it has come time to sell some. I'm new to selling and was hoping some of you veteran ebayers could advise when it is better to sell a complete kit as opposed to parting it out?

For example, I have a body, lens, filter and eveready case that I would like to sell. It would certainly be easier to sell it as a package than part it out. Also, this is a case where I'm betting the lens sold seperately would go quickly and I would be left holding the rest of the kit for a while. I was just wondering if there are any general rules of thumb. Perhaps selling body+case and lens+filter is the way to go?

Also, is there a preferred condition rating system to use on ebay?

I think it depends on what it is that you are selling. For instance, I had a tough time selling my Minolta X-700. There isn't much of a demand on the used market and lots of supply. If I didn't offer a package at an attractive price I would still have it. On the other hand, high quality stuff, with a higher or more focused demand due to rareness will aways pay to sell separately.

What do you have?

It's a Bessa L - 25/4 Snapshot Skopar w/ case and a B+W MRC UV filter. As someone confirmed my suspicion that the market seems to regard the Bessa L as nearly worthless I didn't want to get stuck w/ it.

That is, I fear, a case where the lens is worth more than the package. I'd love to try it out, and have no particular problem with the L, but the reality is that the 25mm lens is what is best for it and it's value keeps that from being something I'll play with anytime soon.

Go with splitting it up, I'd say. Good luck with whatever you do decide to do.

I usually sell lens + body together if 1. I'm uncertain of the functionality of the body (meter etc) and I know the lens is good or 2. I have only one body with a single lens. I've never sold a case separately unless--as now--I've found an unusual one that didn't come with a lens or camera. In this case, it's a square Viv Series 1 case that I think some collector may want to complete his kit.
