Yes, Camulet have sold more than one RD1 recently on e/bay and the lowest priced one was sold for the starting bid of £700.00 -one bidder only.

I think for new ones thats something of a bargain at that price, but they did seem a bit abiguous about warranty. Something along the lines of only returnable if found to be faulty, so I'm not sure that they were offering the full warranty (which should be with Epson) or as a trader whether its possible for them to ovoid the U.K. Sale of Gooods Act.

I purchased mine about 6 weeks ago from Calumet in San Francisco (via telephone) for $2400. This is my very first rangefinder (thanks to your review!) and I love it. At this point, I'm using it more than my D2X. The vertical alignment is off slightly, but I don't have the heart to send it in for repair yet and don't have the guts to repair it myself.

If the vertical alignment is off slightly, don't fool with it! Consider yourself lucky. These are wonderful cameras, but normal considerations of what is acceptable from a QA point of view are different. Until the M8 becomes available there is no other choice. Even then, in many ways, I will prefer the RD1

There are, to be sure, some advantages of the R-D1 over the M8. That's why I'm going to have one of each. I spoke with Epson today and my replacement camera should be here either tomorrow or Monday. I'll test it to make sure it checks out and then follow up with the people who have e-mailed and PM'd me.
Thanks for the feedback on pricing and the inquiries.

I won one on Ebay for $59.57, only to find it was shill for a thief who did not have one. Luckily I did not pay out. I felt sorry for the poor guy who's Ebay account that was stolen. Beware!

Camera was supposed to arrive today but Fedex says they have the tag but not an actual package. So, I'm back and forth with Epson again trying to get this camera sent. I'm hoping it's a good example.

Camera sold tonight, a few hours after it was listed. It was funny that, after all these exchanges (4 all together) I finally got one with excellent rangefinder adjustment and then only had it for a few hours. Ah well, that was the plan once I had tested the M8. Fortunately, the RF on my other, scruffier, R-D1 body is fairly good. Thanks all for the input.
